Reset the HP LaserJet 600 Cartridge

What should you do when your HP LaserJet 600 cartridge becomes empty? You might have to eventually make a replacement. But you might want to trick the device into thinking that it has been installed with a brand new cartridge when the latter is reset.

The trick however, can also be used to on a cartridge, which was recently refilled. We have a step by step DIY to help you out in this reset process.

Step one

In the first step, you are required to remove the cartridge out of the printer and to do so,

  • Open the cartridge access door
  • Remove the cartridge from the printer
  • Place it upside down, copper contacts facing you
  • Handle the copper contacts with care

Step two

In the second step, you will have to carefully mask the cartridge with tape and reinstall it.

  • Take a clear tape and cut into appropriate sizes
  • Cover the copper contacts entirely
  • Reinsert the cartridge into the printer
  • Close the cartridge access door
  • Take a test alignment after making sure that an orange light is blinking on the printer

Step three

In the third step, repeat step two after removing the clear tape from the HP LaserJet 600 cartridge (123.hp.com/setup)

  • Open the cartridge access door
  • Remove the cartridge from the printer
  • Place it upside down, copper contacts facing you
  • Remove the clear tapes carefully from the cartridge
  • Reinsert the cartridge
  • Close the cartridge access door
  • Take a test alignment after making sure that an orange light is blinking on the printer

Step four

  • Take a test print to check the ink levels
  • If there is no change, then repeat steps three and four
  • If the reset was successful, then there is a notification message which reads that a new cartridge has been installed

This is one of the easiest and most cost-effective methods to follow when you run out of ink on your cartridges. However, do not attempt to do this with all the cartridges simultaneously simply because you might not know which one is actually empty. It is wiser to complete the steps for one cartridge at a time and then move on to the next one. This trick will work only until the cartridge is empty. When the ink is completely dry, you have but the one option of replacing it with a new HP LaserJet 600 cartridge.
